Tyrant's Fall
God-King Darius Unbound
joins the TFT roster
When God-King Darius was introduced to the TFT roster, we had an unusual creative challenge: how do you bring a serious, high-stakes League of Legends skin into the playful world of Teamfight Tactics?
I worked with writer Sarah Westerfield Kondeati to build a story around the power fantasy, while partnering with Histeria to translate that vision into a cinematic experience with a distinctly anime-inspired visual language

God-King Darius is one of two characters within this skinline, alongside his sworn rival, Garen of Demacia. Working with writer Sarah Westerfield Kondeati, we built a story around Darius's arrival in the enemy city and the destruction that follows.
I wanted the cinematic to feel bigger and more visceral than a typical TFT story beat, drawing on anime-inspired visual language to sell the scale and power of the character.
I pulled references from series and films including Berserk, Castlevania, and One Punch Man, exploring how each approached movement, impact, and the feeling of an imposing character moving through a city.
I translated those references into a visual direction and pitch brief for our external production partner, Histeria, who developed the sequence in 3D before hand-painting each frame to achieve the final stylized look.
Power fantasy, visualized
THE APPROACH

Production was a study in impact. We intentionally kept both of our ("Tyrant's Fall," "The Final Test") mini-cinematics to roughly 30 seconds, concentrating the budget on a small number of high value visual moments rather than stretching the production across a longer runtime.
Making the impossible feel powerful
CREATIVE DIRECTION
VISUAL LANGAUGE
Anime-inspired impact frames, hand-painted textures, and exaggerated motion.
STORY
Positioning Darius's arrival as a larger-than-life power fantasy rather than a conventional TFT character introduction.
PRODUCTION
Designing a ~30-second format that concentrated the budget and story on fewer, higher-impact visual moments.
